By connecting the Workvivo app, you will be able to update profile pictures, add employees to teams and spaces, post announcements, create events, and send notifications, all via Journeys 🚀
🧠 Note: If you plan on creating or deactivating Workvivo accounts, that is handled by the separate Workvivo SCIM app.
Many organisations will not need it, however, as Workvivo accounts can be auto-created via Microsoft Entra, Okta, or an HR system.
Before you start
Two things need to be in place in Workvivo:
API access enabled for your organisation
Off by default. If you don't see API Keys & JWT Settings in your Workvivo admin panel, contact Workvivo Support to have it enabled. This can take a few days.
The Developer role, granted to you
Separate from Admin, and an account administrator has to grant it under Admin → Tools → People → Roles.
Step 1: Find your Workvivo ID and API URL
In Workvivo, go to Admin → Tools → Platform → API Keys & JWT Settings.
At the top of the page you'll see a banner with two values you'll need later:
Your Workvivo ID: a number, for example
1234567Your API URL: for example
https://api.eu2.workvivo.com
Copy both. Your API URL depends on where your Workvivo account is hosted, so use the one shown on your screen.
Step 2: Create an API app
On the same page, select Add New App.
Give it a name, e.g. "50skills-Journeys", and tick the following permissions:
Section | Permissions |
Events |
|
Users |
|
Teams |
|
Spaces |
|
Updates |
|
Notifications |
|
Leave everything else unticked and click Save. You can change these later by clicking on Edit on the app.
Why these permissions? They cover exactly what the integration does: looking up employees, updating profile pictures, managing team and space membership, posting updates, creating events, and sending notifications.
Step 3: Generate an API key
Find your new app in the list and select Manage Keys, then Add New Key.
Name your API key something like "50skills-Journeys".
Click Save and then copy the key immediately. Workvivo only shows it once and it can't be retrieved afterwards. If you lose it, you'll need to generate a new one.
Step 4: Connect in Journeys
In Journeys, go to the app marketplace, find Workvivo, and select Connect.
Paste:
Workvivo ID: from the banner in step 1
API URL: the API URL from the banner in step 1
API key: the key you copied in step 3
Then click Connect
If it succeeds, you're ready to use Workvivo actions in your journeys 🚀
